Bilbao o Bilbo. A beautiful city in northern Spain and the largest city in the province of Biscay (Basque/Bizkaia). Truly a place worth visiting for many reasons but also because of its history!
I have wanted to go there for quite some time and the perfect opportunity came since I had a week to spend in Madrid before work started. I realized one of my childhood bands Jarabe de Palo was also playing a gig there so obviously I bought tickets there and for the flights.
I spent two nights in Bilbao and had the chance to visit Euskal museum that concentrates on the Basque history and also Guggenheim. I wondered the streets of Casco Viejo (old town) and finally found vegetarian pinxtos (their tapas) to enjoy.
Some pics from the trip:
My hostel that was situated in Casco Viejo, near Ribera, was great and a short metro trip away from the place where the gig was, which was nice because the next day I had to give away my dorm room. I still had time to take a funicular ride (Artxanda Funicular 3,25€) up the hill and even though the weather was a bit misty, the view was mysterious…
My best moment however was the gig I have been waiting to see almost 20 years. I remember buying their first CD in 1998 when I was 11 years old.
